Like many parents, I was frustrated with constantly losing my baby sons’ socks in the wash, behind the sofa, in the car, and when out and about; with their trousers riding up in the baby carrier or out of their wellies; and with trying to keep chilly toes under wraps in the cooler months. I frequently dressed them in tights and baby grows long after they were tiny babies to try to overcome these problems.
One day, while I was getting my second son dressed into his little jeans and trying for the umpteenth time to get – and keep – his socks on while he was wriggling around and in a strop, I wondered whether it were possible to buy toddler and baby trousers with feet where the socks are actually attached so they would work a bit like tights but look more stylish and grown-up like separates. Alas, I was unable to find any such item despite my determined search, and the concept for ‘Sockatoos’ all-in-ones was born.
It took a couple of years of tweaking and perfecting the design and finding the right manufacturer for the job who could live up to my high expectations, standards and ethics. I wanted to produce toddler and baby footed trousers that I could be proud of and that I would want to dress my own children in.
I am more than delighted with the results and, indeed, my youngest has not stopped wearing his Sockatoos since the first stock arrived. He loves them because they are comfy and cosy; they take less time for grown-ups to find and put on him so he can get back to business sooner; and mummy and daddy spend less time doing boring shopping because they don’t have to march around the supermarket an extra five times looking for the sock he has kicked off. His pre-school teachers love them because he is the only one who ends the day with his socks still on his feet and not scattered around the nursery room.
I cannot tell you how much easier these Sockatoos will make your life. They wash well, wear well, look fab and save bags of time and headaches. I’ve even had to bring out a larger size (3-4 years) because customers were bereft when their little ones grew out of them. And now my youngest is three, he and I are very glad of this, too! In addition, I’ve introduced a pink joggers version in response to demand and they are proving very popular.
I really hope you love these Sockatoos as much as we - and lots of faithful customers - do.
